Solange Musanganya


Solange Musanganya (Rwanda/Canada/Cote d’Ivoire) is a transgender LGBTQI+ human rights activist with more than 25 years of experience. She has worked to design and implement strategies aimed at raising awareness surrounding transgender and LGBTQI+ agendas.

She co-founded Arc-en-ciel d’Afrique in November 2004, the first Afro-queer organization in Canada. Later, she initiated the Massimadi festival which highlights films and documentaries dealing with LGBTQI issues in the Afro world. From 2019 until 2023, she was the co-coordinator of the Queer African Youth Network (QAYN - Burkina Faso).

She has vast experience working in the queer space on the continent and has won various awards for her spearheading work.
